NEXT TOP MODEL, CYCLE ONE

I'd like to start off by saying that this whole site is awesome. I never even imagined that by posting my season, it would start a whole movement.

For those who don't know, I've been writing "Next Top Model" for a couple of years now. I am currently in the process of writing Cycle Seven. The season that was posted on FoRT, featuring Janina, Erika, and Sanaa, among others, is the third cycle I ever wrote, and here on out, will be referred to as Cycle 3, as that's when it takes place, continuity wise.

When I write a season of Next Top Model, I develop all of the contestants, and then develop the outline for each week, but I do not plan out an elimination order of any kind. I have been told the best writers let the stories take themselves to their conclusions, and with Next Top Model, that's what I do--I let the story write itself. I do not know what the girls will do or who will be eliminated until I actually write the elimination. This makes it all the more fun to write, because I keep myself in suspense.

The season I'm going to post next is Cycle 1, the first season of Next Top Model I ever wrote. The original entries for this season are saved on my old computer, which has a broken adapter, so until the new one gets here, I won't have access to the original pieces. Therefore, I will be working diligently to re-write the cycle.

For this cycle, there will be a CoverGirl of the week system. As with many other stories, the method is simple--send your votes by Private Message after each episode.

As well, each episode will feature an interview with the eliminated girl afterwards. The questions will be partially developed by me to get more of the story, but any questions of the readers are more than welcome, and are, in fact, encouraged.

Lastly, I'd like to keep the story thread clutter free, so that it's easy for everyone to navigate. All discussion of the story should be kept to the discussion thread in the discussion section. Similarly, questions for the eliminated girl should be posted in the question thread, which I will start after I post the first episode.

I will leave you now with descriptions of the twelve Next Top Model contenders. If and when I get a chance to draw the girls, I will update the profiles with pictures.

Cameran describes herself as perky, vivacious, and deeply religious. She comes from a small town outside of Nashville, and loves it there. She has only been out of the state a handful of times. Given her small-town mentality, her youth, and her strong Christian faith, she often comes off as being very naive. She claims she is worldlier than she lets on, and that the other girls will underestimate her. Will her strategy of under-promising and over-delivering pay off?
Looks Like: Cameran is a typical commercial Barbie Blonde--beautiful, but not the most unusual beauty. Think Brook of ANTM7.

DONNA
24, NY
Hostess
5'10/ White/ Brown Eyes/ Blonde Hair
Donna comes from a 100% Italian family and works as a hostess in her family restaurant in Brooklyn. She loves her family a lot, but Donna is sure there are bigger things out there for her. Admittedly loud, wild, and outspoken, Donna is sure there will be girls in the house who don't care for her, but she knows it won't phase her. She feels that you need a big personality if you're going to be a big star. Will her uninhibited personality strike the right chords with the judges?
Looks Like: Donna, per her Italian heritage, has a naturally tanned complexion. she is very fit, and dyes her hair a bright shade of Blonde. She has a thick New York Accent.

HOPE
22, CA

5'11/ White/ Blue Eyes/ Dirty Blonde Hair
Having dedicated years of her life to acting classes, Hope has been trying for years to break into the acting world and realize her dream to be a big-screen starlet. Her family has always described her as too down to earth and nice for the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Now, Hope is considering a career shift towards fashion instead. Will her decision be the right one, and will this actress find success in front of a different kind of camera?
Looks Like: Her look is very "Hollywood," given her career choice. She wears her hair long and layered with a sweeping bang.

JANE

6'0/ White/ Blue Eyes/ Brown Hair
A current student of photography, Jane has always been very interested in art, and more recently, fashion, after a friend of hers got her a Vogue subscription as a birthday present. Though she is soft spoken and tends to keep to herself, Jane thinks she has the look that the fashion industry is looking for. Will Jane's fashion forward looks help her win, or will her soft-spoken personality hold her back?
Looks Like: Jane is a typical high fashion girl. She has smooth, pale, porcelain like skin and doll like features, including big, blue eyes. She wears her long dark hair with a middle part.

JASMINE
18, NY
Construction Worker
5'9/ Black/ Brown Eyes/ Brown Hair
Jasmine grew up as the only girl in her family--she has four brothers. As such, she has always been accustomed to being one of the guys, excelling at various sports and more recently, starting as a construction worker. Despite her rough-and-tumble lifestyle, Jasmine has always been interested in becoming more feminine and girly. She thinks breaking into the modeling world, she can challenge herself to change and maybe even win in the end. Will her tomboy transformation story be seen to the end, or will she simply prove to be too much for the judges?
Looks Like: Jasmine is lighter skinned, more like Nik than Bre, to try and explain it. She has strong features and her hair in microbraids, which reach mid-back.

JETTA
20, FL
Nanny
5'9/ Cuban/ Brown Eyes/ Brown Hair
Jetta was born in Cuba, and when she was five, her family made a daring journey, immigrating illegally to America. Though she is now a legal citizen, childhood was not easy for Jetta. Her family didn't make much money, and she had difficulty learning English--even now, she still has a heavy Spanish accent. She hopes that the competition will bring her success, so she can not only help her family, but so she can inspire other people who have gone through the same journey she has gone through. Will she be able to make her dreams come true?
Looks Like: Jetta is very soft and pretty, a much more commercial looking girl than say, Jaslene. She keeps her hair in a shoulder length angled cut.

KAREN
21, GA
Retail Associate
5'9/ Black/ Brown Eyes/ Red Hair
Karen describes herself as a queen, and is sick of her boring 9-to-5 job at TJ Maxx. She is ready to become the superstar she knows she is. Though she loves glamour and expensive things, she also admits she knows very little about the fashion industry. She says she is more than ready and willing to learn--the competition, she says, is her ticket out of a "dead end lifestyle." Will her lack of experience hinder her, or will Karen climb her way to the top?
Looks Like: Karen has a kickin' body and very smooth, dark skin, though her look is a bit common. Her hair is dark red with a straight bang.

LYNNE
21, OH

5'10/ White/ Bald/ Green Eyes
Sweet and intellectual, Lynne suffers from Alopecia Universalis, a genetic disease that causes complete and total hair loss. Growing up, she was ashamed of her disorder, and hid her bald head with hair pieces. As she matured, she grew to love herself for who she was, and realized she is beautiful no matter what. She no longer hides her bald head. Having just received her degree in elementary education, Lynne wants to win so she can set an example, proving that people can be beautiful no matter what. Will Lynne's drive and story help win her the crown?
Looks Like: Lynne has features that have been described as "statuesque" and "angular." She has also been told she has very nice lips. Obviously, she has no hair.

MARTINIQUE
20, CA

5'11/ Black/ Black Hair/ Brown Eyes
Martinique describes herself as intellectual and cultured. Her parents are business partners and entrepreneurs who have traveled the world for their business, and as such, Martinique has seen a lot of the world as well. Currently studying business as well, she is intelligent and well spoken. She feels that her large repertoire of life-experiences will allow her to succeed over the competition. Will she be right?
Looks Like: Martinique is edgy, but still has a regal, feminine beauty. Her hair is kept in a cropped, short cut, much like Rihanna's newest hairstyle.

MIRIAM
22, MI

5'10/ White/ Black Hair, Blue Eyes
Miriam describes herself as tough and laid back. She spent her high school days with the stoners and the punks, rather than the preppy party girls, and takes pride in being part of the "different" crowd. Her alternative style is different from the rest of the girls, and she wants to use this to her advantage. She thinks if a rocker like her can win, she'll shake up the fashion world. Will Miriam be able to do it?
Looks Like: She's got a nose ring and dresses in band t-shirts a lot. Her hair is very short, worn in a fauhawk. The color is not natural.

RAWIYA
19, OR

5'10/ Arab/ Black Hair, Brown Eyes
Rawiya describes herself as witty and goofy. She is currently studying chemical engineering, but considers modeling to be her true dream. She describes her upbringing as "typically American"--her Muslim family is not at all devout. She wants to win not only for the sake of her own career, but so she can show that Arabs are beautiful, and not all "extremists or terrorists." Will she succeed in her journey?
Looks Like: Rawiya has a softer look, but her exotic features lean more towards an editorial model. Her hair is very long and sleek.

Sam is a self described “Goth”, a girl who loves pop-punk music and dark humor. She hasn’t always believed in her beauty, but encouragement from her friends has made her decide to try something completely out of her element that nobody would expect from her. Will her strong looks help her in the competition, or will her self-doubt give the judges reason to send her home?
Looks Like: Sam is very pale, and she keeps her hair long and scraggly--it often obscures half her face. Her features are rounder and almost childlike, making her look younger than she is.

To everyone wondering when I'll be starting the series--
I'm sorry it's taking so long. I've been working on sketches of all the girls, and I want to post them before the first episode. It takes a bit of time to crank them out, as I'm still learning to draw with a tablet. Thanks to everyone for being so patient.
